For those of you who are my age, give or take a few years, you will have been right smack in the middle of the generation who enjoyed the movies I grew up on. Home Alone 1 and 2 were my favorite movies as a kid; when I was older, I appreciated his 16 Candles and Ferris Bueller's Day Off flicks I didn't understand completely as a kid.
Mr. Hughes was pivotal to my generation, making my movie experience magical enough to want to be in this industry. He was a writer, like me (and some of you), with an imagination that entertained MILLIONS. Curly Sue, Maid in Manhattan, Dennis the Menace, She's Having a Baby, are just some of the movies he either wrote or directed.
The world should take some time to recognize the contribution this man made to our great American culture.
