The Road: Better Than Inglourious Basterds

The Road, a movie set where human life is scarce, and the few human who are left are famished and fend for themselves. Think I am Legend, only with a kid in tow and mistrust for all other humans.

I have to say this movie was really slow and really sad, but completely marvelous. Viggo Mortenson (the Lord of the Rings guy) will definitely be nominated for his performance. He even lost enough weight to have his ribs show.

Like Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood or Tom Hanks in Cast Away, this movie was primarily carried by one actor who brings you all the emotions his character embodies.

Small nuances like Mortensen's sad expression when he realizes his son has no idea what he means when he refers to Christmas stockings, or the exchanged smiles when they find food really make this movie for me.

Inglourious Basterds may be the easy pick this year, but I'm saying The Road was much better.
