Extra, Extra, Read All About It

This week I politic-ed (yes, I made a verb out of the word politic) my script around for some actors. I figure, since its short, I might as well direct it myself and hoe it to the film festivals while I continue writing my feature scripts (the long ones). Good plan, right? Problem is, I don't directing experience. I mean, I've worked on a few sets, done camera work, lighting, video editing, but never giving direction, just taking it.

So I'm revealing all this to my actor friend and she suggests I learn by doing extra work.

What I say: Ooo, that would be fun, I could learn so much from all that.

What I was really thinking: Finally, my chance to get discovered!

She is right, I mean how amazing would it be to be a part of a huge production and gain experience with other successful directors. I swear you cannot live in LA without becoming the cliche (much to the resistance I put up). So, I go to register to be an extra on Monday and I get my star shots taken. Skippy! I feel like even though this is an unrelated step to the process my film will take, its still getting the process started to take over Hollywood.

I'm willing to do what I have to for the goals I have set out for myself, after all, isn't that why we're all here in this bustling city of angels? Amen!
